About IPEP

Indiana Public Employers' Plan, Inc. (IPEP) is a is a nonprofit, self-funded workers compensation program for Indiana public employers. We offer training, risk and claims management, plus a series of benefits.

 

Founded in 1989, IPEP works on behalf of Indiana’s political subdivisions and governmental entities, serving as the largest provider of public entity workers compensation in the state. 

IPEP is the program of choice for over 600 active members, providing coverage for over $1 billion in public worker wages.

IPEP’s services are marketed and distributed by a network of local independent agents.

Mission:

  • Provide a self-funded and robust workers compensation program that satisfies the obligations of IPEP members under the Indiana Worker’s Compensation Act, the Indiana Worker’s Occupational Diseases Act and the Indiana Employers’ Liability Act.

 

Principles:

  • Develop and administer a competitive workers compensation program built around a robust system of risk management

  • Control claim outcomes through members' risk management efforts in order to reduce the frequency and severity of claims

  • Provide protection from the costs of a catastrophic loss by an excess insurance policy underwritten by EMC Insurance Companies (rated “A” by AM Best)

  • Abide by fair underwriting utilizing underwriting principles and standards in the workers compensation insurance industry, based on rates developed by the National Council on Compensation Insurance, and modified by IPEP's experience
